This year, there were more than 5,000 runners and RunningMoms.com was the first water stop. Our head web geek Joel organized the water stop and he and Dani plus 13 other adult volunteers and kids (as young as seven) helped get tons of water ready for the runners. But it was a challenge -- it was very chilly for by-standers. So if you weren't running that morning you had to bundle up. Our truck was packed with extra clothes, mittens, hats, and even costumes.
Once all 15 volunteers arrived at the water stop, they got to work! Joel estimated they used anywhere from 90-110 gallons of water for both poured water and for mixing with the Powerade.
And once the runners started, we were incredibly busy. We received the 10 milers and the Half Marathoners (about 3,500 of them) in the first round of runners. Some were dressed in costume, while others were very focused -- running in what they knew best -- their running gear. Once they ran by, the water supply was very depleted and we quickly restocked for the 5K. And for that race it wasn't just water and Powerade they were looking for -- the kids wanted candy! Each water stop for the 5K was also a trick-or-treat stop! There were tons of people in costume here. It was like a running parade!
If you're a Running Mom and you saw us along the route, join us! We do training runs we call Coffee Runs the third Saturday of each month right at Lake Harriet where the Monster Dash was! Hope to see you soon!

RunningMoms.com had a great time on Halloween helping out at a huge race in Minneapolis. The Monster Dash, put on by Team Ortho Foundation, is a Half Marathon, 10 Mile, 5K and 5K-9 (run with dog) race. Lots of people turn out to run in costume.
